Video Consultations

Use the guidance below if your clinician has asked you to take part in a video consultation using Vidyo.

Note: The Vidyo consultation software does not currently support Google Chrome, it's only compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. We're currently working closely with Vidyo to resolve this.

Take part in a video consultation using Patient Access

Tip: Make sure the device you are using to connect to the consultation is not on mute, or your clinician will not be able to hear you.

  1. Sign in to Patient Access in the usual way.
  2. In the Appointments section of the Welcome page, find the video consultation appointment.
  3. Beside the appointment details, click Attend Video Consultation.
The video consultation launches, and you’ll be able to see and hear the clinician when they click the video consultation link in their system.
Note: If it's your first time using video consult, you need to download the Vidyo plugin. The steps you need to follow depend on the Web browser you're using, either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

If you don't use Patient Access, take part in a video consultation using a URL from your clinician

You need to inform your clinician if you don't use Patient Access so they can send the website address (URL) to your email address. To join the video consultation, simply click the URL. You need to download a plugin application the first time you take part in a video consultation. The download only takes a few seconds, and you can download the plugin before the consultation starts.

Taking part in a Video consultation using Vidyo Mobile via Patient Access

You can take part in a video consultation using your mobile/tablet device, via the Patient Access App.

Note: In order to have a video consultation on your mobile/tablet device, it is essential to download the Vidyo Mobile App from either the Google play store or the App Store. If you cannot find the Vidyo app in your app store then your mobile device may not be compatible and therefore cannot be used for Video consultations

IMPORTANT: Tickets can only be raised for Medical practices in England. If your practice is outside England, please raise your query directly with your Medical practice.

If you still need help with using Patient Access, you can raise a ticket here for the support team. If you want to discuss a medical issue, contact your practice.

Patient Access is an online service provided by EMIS Health. We provide the clinical system that your practice uses and which you connect to through Patient Access. Your Patient Access account is configured and looked after by your practice, not us, so you will sometimes need to contact them directly if you’re having problems. However, where we can help you or your practice we certainly will.
